The much-loved annual festival quite literally lights up the city, with Vivid Light, Vivid Music, and Vivid Ideas over 23 days and nights.
Vivid Light is always amazing, and this year the landmark sails of the Opera House will light up with the work of Martumili Artists’ collective painting Yarrkalpa – Hunting Ground, Parnngurr Area in collaboration with technological creatives Curiious. You can see it until June 18.

Children will love the iridescent illuminated bubbles of Ephemeral Oceanic by Atelier Sisu on the floating boardwalk of Walsh Bay. Don’t miss Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran’s iconic Earth Deities at Circular Quay and the Rocks, which are a part idol and part monster, or the spectacular nightly projections on to the Museum of Contemporary Art. Then there is Ken Done who has made a spectacular projection For Sydney with Love for Customs House, every night 6 pm – 11 pm.

A highlight of Vivid Ideas this year is a filmmaker and Australian legend Baz Luhrmann in conversation with podcaster Marc Fennell about the Business of Baz. It’s today at 3 pm, and you might still get a ticket if you’re lucky.
