Setting a new standard in luxury accommodation, The Carlin is Queenstown’s newest and flashiest hotel. After officially opening last week, the multi-million dollar project will allow cashed-up tourists to experience New Zealand’s top tourist destination in unparalleled luxury and style.
The brainchild of a property developer and pianist Kevin Carlin, the seven-floor boutique hotel cascades down a hill at the heart of the town with spectacular views of Queenstown Bay and Lake Wakatipu.
While The Carlin offers the level of comfort and luxury experienced at five-star hotels in Europe, the boutique hotel also boasts features that are “beyond five-star” including private butlers, chefs and massage therapists with most suites featuring private pools or spas.
Tailored to an affluent audience, the hotel even offers direct flights from Australia on a 13-seater private jet as well as luxury car hire options.

If you’re looking to experience the best a six-star hotel has to offer, you’d be looking at booking The Carlin’s ‘Eagles Nest Penthouse’. As the largest penthouse suite in Australasia, the ‘Eagles Nest’ spans 510 square metres and costs A$25,000 a night.
For that, guests have access to seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three lounge rooms and three outdoor spas across three levels connected by a private lift and private entrance.

The 14-room hotel emphasises its personalised services, limiting its overnight guest capacity to a maximum of 50 and the option to book out the entire property.
A 250 square metre Grand Room is the ultimate space for functions with room for 150 people. There are also world-class amenities on-site, including the ORO Restaurant and a health and wellness spa.
The in-house restaurant promises “pure culinary artistry from world-class chefs” run by two Michelin-experienced chefs; executive chef Thomas Barta who’s worked with Gordon Ramsay and head chef Yann Robert.
Carlin was personally involved with the construction and design of the hotel and stated that while the project wasn’t without challenges, he’s proud of the outcome.
There have been many challenges to overcome but this has been a true labour of love, and I’m immensely proud that The Carlin Boutique Hotel and its associated services will ensure Queenstown can deliver a visitor experience of the very highest standard of sophistication.
Standard room rates start at A$2,000 a night, which includes a chauffeured Bentley airport pickup with the hotel taking bookings from April 1st.
